Glamour Modelling
All you Need to Know about Glamour Modelling
The modelling industry is quite a vast industry, comprising various types of modelling, including runway, commercial, print and glamour modelling. All types have different requirements for people who are applying for job openings and being chosen would depend on how well you fit the criteria outlined. Where glamour modelling in particular is concerned, models need to be aware of the fact that there is a certain image attached with this type of modelling that they would need to be readily able and willing to accept.
Glamour modelling is really photography modelling where the subjects are portrayed in a romantic or alluring way. The subjects are generally female, and are generally used in commercials that would attract the attention of male or even female consumers who are attracted by alluring imagery. In most cases, the models would be fully clothed or semi-nude, but never fully nude. The intention of glamour photography is not to arouse the viewer but instead portray the model as one to be adored and hence garner interest in that particular product being advertised.
Not everybody may be comfortable or confident enough to do glamour modelling because of the type of feeling and emotion that the photography is supposed to induce. Models chosen for this type of job are generally professionals who have been in the industry for some time before. The photographs used in glamour modelling are generally intended for commercial use and are mass produced for prints like calendars, men’s magazines and pinups or posters.
The good thing with this type of modelling is that the majority of models will never have the experience of being exploited by the photographer or the modelling agency. This is because there are many more reputable agencies than disreputable ones that will try to take advantage of the subject.
With a combination of lighting, cosmetics and airbrushing techniques, photographers can create a visually appealing image of the subject to potentially draw the attention of the viewers. The type of techniques used by the photographer and make-up artists in glamour photography modelling will determine how well a particular product does.
Glamour modelling may not be for everybody. Perhaps the people who are more confident and comfortable with bearing most of their body will be the ones who go after this type of job. What is important however is that you work with a glamour model agency that will protect your rights and your interests and will not allow you to be taken advantage of.
If you feel you have the talent needed to be a glamour model, start to put together your glamour model portfolios with your best shots so they can be submitted to the talent agency you choose. If the glamour modelling agency feels your portfolio is good enough to allow you to score jobs, you will be contacted to attend either open or closed auditions.
